USA To Rematch Canada In Minneapolis On August 7th
On May 1st in Toronto, Team Canada defeated Team USA, 4 fights to 1. The fight card on August 7th will feature different weight classes and fighters from the Toronto show and Team USA is looking to get back on the wining track.
The international event will feature two very talented female fighters in the 125lb weight class as Canada's Jackie Lachapelle takes on Minneapolis' Lisa Van Ahn. Both fighters have a wealth of experience in the ring and this fight will definitly keep fans on the edge of their seats.
The main event will feature an exciting battle in the 71kg (156lb) division as Canadian National Champion, Marco Capobianco faces Duluth, MN's Jamie McDermid. McDermid will be fighting for the first time since his legendary battle in February against Ireland's Sean O'Neill. The two fighters put one one of the craziest back and forth battles fight fans have ever seen. Although MdDermid lost a close decision, he gained a ton of experience in his first bout against international competition and he's ready for the very experienced Canadian. Capobianco is only 19, but he has more ring experience than fighters twice his age; Capobianco placed in the Final 8 at the WAKO World Championships last November in Lignano, Italy. It's going to be another tough fight for McDermid, but he's definitely up to the task.
Jamie McDermid's older brother, Adam McDermid was also scheduled to fight on the card in the Team USA vs Canada matchup, but was forced to pull out due to obligations. Stepping in for Adam will be The Cellar Fight Team's Jon Cichon although his opponent has yet to be confirmed. |
Members of the Canadian National Kickboxing Team will travel to Minneapolis in August to compete against members of Team USA. The event takes place on Saturday August 7th at the Hilton Hotel in Downtown Minneapolis and Team USA is looking for redemption.
